Today, we welcomed nearly 80 campers to our first 2-week session of the summer! After the morning where the staff prepared for the day by cleaning cabins and then an hour of dedicated metaphysical preparations for the session, the session was off with a proverbial “bang!”
Promptly at the 1:00 opening time, there was a line up of campers being checked in at the office – it reached well out the doors of the office and onto the porch. It was great seeing so many new and eager faces to our summer!
Riding and swimming tests were underway, and were undeterred even by the sprinkles of rain that began to fall near the end of the afternoon. Kudos to the Stables and Waterfront staff to getting all the new campers through their tests in under a few hours.
After settling into cabins and LOTS of games on the gamefield, the kitchen had prepared a tasty dinner of home-made pizza with home-made dough and all! A great ice cream social rounded out the meal. Then everyone went back to their respective (boys’ or girls’) camp. Basic rules were gone over, the stables rode up in horses to review horse etiquette, and then we broke off to the cabins. The night ended for everyone with time to bond in cabins, getting to all the new friends.
