All our thanks around Thanksgiving

Hello from the mountain!

As the snow starts to gently cover the rooftops of Kiya, Norman, and the Dining Hall, we are getting more and more excited for the winter months! That means sledding, skiing, making snowmen, drinking hot chocolate, and building toasty fires. However before the winter completely engulfs us with cold winds and white landscapes, we should take a look at our very successful fall!

We had an abundance of visitors with all the activities we’ve had going on. Our Alumni Weekend was magnificent! From lighting the counsel fire, to all the service projects we accomplished, the weekend was a big success. We enjoyed some archery, hikes around the property, arts and crafts, and even with the weather, some braved the giant loaf, (aka our rock wall) and a quick dip in the lake! We had countless familiar faces help with, and participate in, so many different activities.

Clean Up-Weekend was also a great success! It’s hard to recap everything that was accomplished because we did so much! We stored the iconic teepees, repainted bathrooms, winterized the lodge and dining hall, all while having a great weekend! With everything we worked on we even managed to fit some loved games, hikes, and conversation into the mix.

With Thanksgiving coming up it’s nice to reflect on this past year, especially with all the help we received in the fall. We’re so grateful, and we’d really like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who came up to Crystal Lake Camps in one way or another this year!

Now onto the winter! The colder days are already here, and we’re all gearing up for Winter Camp! What’s Winter Camp you ask? That’s a great question! Imagine if summer camp happened in the winter, but for a short burst of time. You would get Winter Camp! It’s a place to re-energize your camp muscles. We’ll drink hot chocolate, catch up with old and new friends, build gingerbread houses, and sing those songs of yore, while warming our toes by the radiant fire. If the weather permits, we’ll try our hand at all those winter outdoor activities, and for those brave enough, we will have our 2nd annual Polar Bear Plunge! You can see a video of last years Polar Bear Plunge here https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=527429151722 and to see last years photo album click here https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150512907489306.395832.170542224305&type=1 It’s going to be a blast… an ARCTIC BLAST!! We hope to see you there!
