Our Metaphysical Theme for Winter Camp was: “My soul shall be joyful in the Lord: it shall rejoice in his salvation” (Psalms 35:9). Mrs. Eddy defines Salvation in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures as: “Life, Truth, and Love understood and demonstrated as supreme over all” (593: 20-21). Rejoicing in Life, Truth, and Love was a fantastic way to bring in the New Year.
We had a great group of guests, many of whom have never been to Crystal Lake before! It was wonderful to see how easily these newcomers fit in and how conversation quickly became deep and metaphysical. Gratitude seemed to fill the hearts of every participant of this weekend, and everyone was willing to offer support and help where it was needed.
A dusting of snow welcomed our guests the first night of Winter Camp, which enabled us to partake in activities such as ice skating, skiing, and snowshoeing. We even played an impromptu ice hockey game for two hours; it was definitely a highlight for many of us!
A family with a background in the arts helped lead an amazing craft project. Individuals decorated frames, boxes, and flower pots with items collected during Winter Camp. Many found their items in nature, and others used objects from the Arts and Crafts storage or things found in the trash. The end products were brilliantly unique and beautiful.
Dancing and laughter filled the Dining Hall, where we spent the evenings together. We played games, ate cookies, and sat around the fire. It was so natural to see this group enjoy each other’s company without any sense of judgment; we all jumped right into the activities and expressed ourselves freely, rejoicing in goodness.
Winter Camp was a pure demonstration of Life and joy, and we are so grateful for all of our guests for joining us. We hope to see you next year!
